Picky eating is common in many children, especially those challenged by sensory and emotional issues. But when mealtimes lead to meltdowns, parents often lack the information and inspiration to address their child’s needs.
That’s why NYU Langone Health’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry recently launched its new app, When to Wonder: Picky Eating.
Through engaging games for children and simple questionnaires for parents, the app learns the distinct preferences of every child and dynamics of every family to offer tailored tips, where and how parents need it most. The app also connects the dots between physical, behavioral, and mental health to uncover when picky eating signals a bigger challenge – and what parents can do if they’re concerned.
