Reflecting on My First Year at Additive

#TBT

It’s been a little over a year since I’ve started at Additive. I’ve learned so much about brand consulting in this position, but there are so many aspects unique to Additive that have allowed me to grow. Here are a few of my favorite highlights:

Our Purpose

What has particularly stood out to me is the fact
that Additive only works with companies that do good. Whether that’s a nonprofit, a hospital or a university, knowing that the work we’re doing helps organizations bring good to society is a key motivator. It drives us to work harder, since the more effort we put in, the more successful that organization can be in bringing positive change.

Our Size

Working at a boutique firm has allowed me to have more input and work alongside senior staff. “Additive” is truly reflective of how we work as a team. We each recognize that the variety of our colleagues’ perspectives and experiences combine to make our insights sharper and our work even stronger. Although I don’t have the background in branding that some of my colleagues may have, I always feel like my voice is heard, and I’m able to vocalize my thoughts and see projects through from beginning to end.

Our Culture

I can’t forget about the company’s culture! From taste tests to weekly quizzes to — my favorite — the dogs, everything adds up to create a positive atmosphere. Our yearly offsite is the perfect example of balancing strategy, creativity and fun. Last summer, the theme was “Creative Destruction.” We went to a cooking class to explore the creative task of dumpling-making, and then went axe throwing to release a little stress through “productive” destruction. Being able to bond with my coworkers in a space outside of work allowed me to be more comfortable around them, and helped me become more confident sharing my perspective on client work.

I could keep going on, but this post would be endless! There’s something special about doing work that’s bringing effective and positive change to society, and there’s something even more special about Additive.

I can’t wait to see what this next year will bring.
